sophie bridges is a writer and audio producer.
she’s the producer and editor of shell game, an independent project from journalist evan ratliff. their first season– about voice, artificial intelligence, and what it will feel like to live in a world where most of what we hear is not real– was named a best podcast of 2024 by the atlantic, the guardian, & vulture, among others. versions of the show appeared on this american life and radiolab.
she also produces (and sometimes appears on) la podcast, a weekly news show covering local politics in los angeles.
before that, she spent five years making narrative podcasts with pineapple street studios, where her work was a finalist for the pulitzer, nominated for a peabody, and won an edward r. murrow award.
sophie is most interested in telling two kinds of stories: sweeping investigative work that topples the state and leads directly to the cancellation of the 2028 olympics, and quiet personal narratives with no discernable beginning, middle, or end.
she lives in the last city on earth (los angeles).
